Due to the lack of a church, today brought the joyous (and rare) happening of me having no admin to do... I was momentarily flummoxed... A day off? What could I do? How could I prevent myself languishing at home for hours? How could I have fun without spending any money?

Just an article I've been scribbling away at this week...

Yesterday dawned bright and sunny, so I decided to head to church. This would be a normal Sunday activity, except my church, Wandsworth Boiler Room, is surrounded by grey hoardings and awaiting demolition.
I spent a while wondering what to do, whether I should roll over and go back to sleep, before deciding that would be a waste of a morning...

Around 130 years ago, a bunch of intrepid christians began the work of the Salvation Army in Wandsworth. excuse the creative license here, but I like to think of them as the type who, having only been saved a few weeks, began crazy tent meetings, watched as people were delivered from alcoholism instantly in their gatherings, sent 'hallelujah lassies' out, amidst raining bricks and insults to tell people about the God who had turned their lives upside down.

Creative chaos is one of the things Wandsworth Boiler Room does well. So I was looking forward to today, when, to mark the end of our 24-7 week tomorrow, we held a painty prayer day at the hall. One of the bonuses of having a hall that will be knocked down in under two weeks is that there is much more freedom to make a mess!

So, today has been my penultimate Friday at the Boiler Room before it gets knocked down, (week commencing Aug 19th). We have been sorting through stuff, throwing away old pictures and tennis rackets and wires (where have all the wires come from I ask myself). I've moved house loads of times but that's nothing compared to the amount of stuff to pack down at the church.
