On Saturday we all trooped into the town hall to pray with some other christians from accross Wandsworth borough. There were 33 of us, from 15 churches, representing every area in the borough except Roehampton.
The idea was that 070707 was a significant day; and the prayers prepared for the day were all about blessing London, declaring Jesus as Lord, and repenting for stuff.
There was a comedy moment when we realised none of us had brought a bible with us. We were supposed to pray 2 Chronicles 7:14, but none of could remember it! So Alan, Jo and I were passing a bit of paper back and forth between us trying to remember it and fill in the gaps, surrepticiously, without the masses noticing. We didn't get spotted, but we did miss a significant chunk out of the verse. (Thankfully everyone was too polite and christian to mention it!)
The council had given us bottles of water and glasses. Sounds like a really small thing but we were really encouraged by it. So we wrote them a little thankyou note.
After we had prayed we snuck out amidst all the weddings, trying not to slip on the confetti strewn everywhere. It was a good day, and really good to mix and pray with new people.
